2025 Legislative Council General Election
[13/11/2025]
The Eighth Legislative Council General Election will be held on 7 December 2025. In addition to casting one vote as voters of a geographical constituency, registered social workers may also cast another vote in the functional constituency for the social welfare sector via voters registration, which holds one seat.
To foster unity within the sector and encourage participation in the election, the Board urges all eligible voters in the profession to cast their votes on the day. By doing so, they will help elect capable, committed, and responsible representatives who can contribute meaningfully to the advancement of both social welfare services and Hong Kong’s broader development.
* The Registration and Electoral Office reminds all eligible voters, according to section 53(1)(b) of the Legislative Council Ordinance (Cap. 542), a person registered as an elector is disqualified from voting at an election of a functional constituency if the person has ceased to be eligible to be registered as an elector for that functional constituency. In addition, according to section 6(1) and section 16(1)(a) of the Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance (Cap. 554), if a person votes at an election knowing that the person is not entitled to do so, the person engages in corrupt conduct at the election and is liable on conviction to a fine of up to $500,000 and to imprisonment for a maximum of 7 years.
