Functions :

  1. To propose and review staffing, personnel, financial and administrative policies and procedures of the Board;
  2. To approve requisitions at the range as determined by the Board;
  3. To propose fees and charges for any relevant matter under Section 38(6) of the Ordinance;
  4. To formulate and recommend to the Board publicity strategies targeted at the general public, welfare agencies and registered social workers to promote a positive public image of the Board, and to enhance the general awareness of the work and functions of the Board; and
  5. to perform any other administrative duties that the Board may delegate from time to time.

Committee on Professional Conduct (until 5/2003)

Functions :

  1. To review the procedures in handling complaints against RSWs and procedures in disciplinary hearings and to make recommendations in respect thereof to the Board;
    　
  2. To review and handle matters in relation to the Code of Practice and to make recommendations in respect thereof to the Board;
    　
  3. To review the procedures on the Board’s Legal Representation Assistance Scheme to parties in the disciplinary proceedings and to make recommendation in respect thereof to the Board;
    　
  4. To handle matters in connection with the list of proposed amendments to the Social Workers Registration Ordinance forwarded to the Health, Welfare and Food Bureau and to make recommendations in connection thereof to the Board; and
    　
  5. To deal with any other matters related to the professional conduct of social workers.

Committee on Qualification Assessment and Registration

Functions :

  1. To review the "Standard, Principles and Criteria for Recognizing Degree and Diploma Programmes in Social Work" and to make recommendations in respect thereof to the Board.
  2. To review the list of recognized qualifications, both local and over-seas for the purpose of registration.
  3. To undertake preliminary vetting and screening of doubtful cases (not cases with convictions) and to make recommendations and to make recommendations to the Board for consideration and final endorsement.
  4. To review the procedures and requirements for registration and renewal of registration.
  5. To deal with any other matters related to qualification assessment and social workers registration.

Working group on Professional Development

Functions:

  1. To promote, monitor the implementation of and review the Guidelines for Social Work Supervision;
  2. To promote, monitor the implementation of and review the voluntary continuing professional development scheme for registered social workers;　
  3. To cultivate and promote a culture of good practice in professional supervision for and also of continuing professional development of registered social workers; and　
  4. To deal with any other matters related to professional development of registered social workers as delegated by the Board.
