Criteria and Procedures for Assessing Social Work Qualifications Awarded in Taiwan

The Board will assess applications for registration filed by applicants holding social work degrees or diplomas conferred by the tertiary institutes recognized by the Ministry of Education of Taiwan on individual merits in accordance with the following criteria and procedures:

(1)  The curriculum, the fieldwork practicum, the qualifications of teachers, and the academic staff to student ratio of each of the relevant programmes, which lead to the social work qualifications of applicants, must comply with the latest version of the "Principles, Criteria & Standards for Recognizing Qualifications in Social Work for Registration of Registered Social Workers" (posted under "Recognition of Social Work Qualifications" on the homepage) drawn up and put into effect by the Board at the time of applications received; and

 

(2)  applicants must pass one of the following three examinations conducted by the Ministry of Examination of Taiwan for social workers:

 

(a) “專門職業及技術人員高等考試社會工作師考試”;

(b) “特種考試社會工作師考試”;  and

(c) “社會工作師檢覈筆試”.

 

Applicants should submit their applications for registration, together with the documentary proof in respect of the above two criteria including all relevant certificates, transcripts, programme prospectus, contents of various courses, profiles of all teachers, academic staff to student ratio, and so forth.  Applications will be put forward to the Committee on Qualification Assessment and Registration for initial consideration.  Nevertheless, only applications from those who have met the above two criteria will be considered.
